Following the release iOS 13.4 beta 4 yesterday, Apple today is releasing watchOS 6.2 beta 4 to developers. watchOS 6.2 doesn’t include any major user-facing changes. Instead, the update focuses on performance improvements and under-the-hood bug fixes. Apple doesn’t offer a public beta of watchOS because there is no way to revert back to a previous version if there are bugs. Developers can update to the latest beta of watchOS 6....

One of the most highly-antipcated shows in Apple’s arsenal of original content is a morning show drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Variety reports today, however, that the show has undergone a leadership change due to creative differences… The report explains that Jay Carson had originally been serving as creator and showrunner, but has since parted ways with the unnamed series due to “creative differences.” Replacing Carson as showrunner is Kerry Ehrin, who has worked on shows such as Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, and Bates Motel....

As we previously reported, Apple’s new MacBook Pro lineup is launching as early as next week. Today, we have all the details on the new notebooks and this looks to be a minor refresh with faster processors and more storage (for some models). This app is definitely welcome for fans of Podcasts. It lets you subscribe to podcasts directly on your device without having to sync with iTunes on your computer. This will also make it easier for iDevice users who aren’t familiar with podcasts by providing an easier way to start discovering them. Right now, the app is currently featured in the Apple iTunes Store where you can download it. Start the app, and you get a cool radio dial interface you can scroll through to select different podcast categories....

Apple is making it easy for anyone, not just those part of its paid developer program, to access beta builds of OS X and in the process submit feedback to Apple. As noted by The Loop, Apple is kicking off a new OS X Beta Seed Program today for all customers that will allow anyone with an Apple ID to install beta builds of OS X starting with the latest OS X 10....

After rolling out a redesigned iCloud Photos app to the beta site earlier this month, today the updated experience is now available to all through iCloud.com. The refreshed Photos app, which includes an updated sidebar and scrubber to match the native Mac Photos app, first became available through the beta.icloud.com where Apple tests new features before releasing to all users. The new Photos app includes an updated toolbar with upload and download buttons along the the top of the interface....

Dialog Semiconductor, which makes most of its revenue from supplying power-management chips to Apple, has reported record quarterly revenue of $463M in Q4 last year. This was up 27% year-on-year. The firm saw its shares climb 4% on the news, though not clawing back the fall following last month’s admission that it faced an uncertain future with Apple … Dialog shares fell by as much as 19% after it admitted that its contract to supply power management chips to Apple could be at risk....

Following last night’s report that new Macs are still on track for this month and as predicted, Recode now reports that Apple is planning to hold an event on October 27th to announce its latest lineup, meaning that we’re just over a week away from those long overdue updates… The report cites unnamed sources and claims that the event will take place “at or near” Apple’s Cupertino campus, not in San Francisco where other recent events have been held....

Apple has just announced that it will hold its quarterly investor conference call on April 23rd at 5 PM. As usual, Apple executives will go over all of the sales and earnings for the second quarter of 2014. The company will also likely continue teasing “new product categories” to be announced later this year. The first half of FY2014 hasn’t been especially full of new Apple products. Instead, the company has focused on revising its existing lineup....

The start of 2021 has been great for Apple TV+ originals. Following the Academy Award nominations for “Wolfwalkers” and “Greyhound”, the film “The Banker” has now earned an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Independent Motion Picture. Apple celebrated the victory in a tweet, as you can see below. The NAACP Image Awards is recognized as the nation’s preeminent multicultural awards show from an African American Perspective. When Apple initially announced the fourth-generation Apple TV, the company made a point to focus on a new feature called universal search. This capability allows users to perform a single search using Siri or the Search app and see content across multiple channels. Until today, the feature was limited to Netflix, iTunes, Hulu, PBS, PBS Kids, Showtime, Showtime Anytime, HBO Go and HBO Now, but now, three new apps have gained support for universal search: Nat Geo TV, Fox Now, and FXNow....

Apple today unveiled a brand new Siri Remote for the Apple TV, alongside a hardware refresh for the Apple TV box itself. The new remotes combines a trackpad with clickable D-Pad buttons. The remote is backwards-compatible with older Apple TVs than run tvOS, and it will be available in May. You can buy the remote separately for $59. The new remote has got rid of the breakable glass touch surface, and instead features a fully-aluminium design....

As one of the major Apple Pay holdouts among retailers, Walmart today officially launched its own digital payment solution called Walmart Pay nationwide. The launch today in 4,600 stores across the US follows an initial launch in 500 stores back in May and subsequent rollouts across additional markets in the months following. The service works through the Walmart app for iOS and Android and allows users to preload credit, debit, pre-paid, and Walmart gift cards for fast payment via a code scanned at checkout....

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, new research from Forrester explores the kind of products Apple could introduce in the next five years. And while the report’s packed-full of speculation, there’s elements within it that may be worth pondering. For example, the researchers believe it’s possible Apple could introduce a range of Mac-enabled digital picture frames. These could, for example, connect to .Mac or other online image galleries to display new images uploaded by friends, or could randomly show images selected from a user’s own iPhoto library....

After Apple launched updated buttons, icons, and more for Sign In with Apple, Apple Health, and Apple Pay for developers last week, the Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) have seen another update with some big changes to the Siri resources of the Developer HIG. SiriKit, the platform that Apple offers developers to build in native support of its voice assistant to third-party apps as well as AirPlay 2 and HomeKit accessories has seen a major update....

As expected, Apple has released OS X Lion on a USB thumb drive via their online store. The $69 thumb drive ships in 1-3 business days and requires 7GB of available storage space. One caveat for users that install OS X Lion via this thumb drive, rather than for $29.99 from the Mac App Store, is that re-installs will need to be conducted via the thumb drive; the internet-based Lion recovery system will not function....

Apple has released the sixth developer and public beta version of iOS 10.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iOS 10.2 includes several upcoming features like new Unicode 9.0 emoji, three new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus wallpapers, a new TV app, additional camera features, new Messages screen effects, and more. iOS 10.2 will be released to everyone likely sometime this month, and a free public beta program is available for non-developers....

Apple today released yet another build of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 to both the developer and public beta programs. This version is labeled as 14D127, which is several builds newer than the previous release of 14D113. As always, this new release includes various bug fixes. As we’ve previously highlighted, 10.10.3 will bring a new, more diverse Emojis keyboard to the Mac, improved login for Google services, and APIs for the new Force Touch Trackpad on the new 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display....

Anil Sethi with his late sister Tania, the inspiration for his new startup Apple’s work in the health industry has been well reported thus far, but CNBC reports today that the person running Apple’s health efforts is leaving the company. Anil Sethi was originally named director of the health team last year, when Apple acquired his medical record startup Gliimpse… Prior to his announcement that he would be leaving Apple, Sethi had been on an extended leave of absence to care for his sister, Tania, who passed away from cancer in September....
