The Information corroborates a claim from Bloomberg last May, saying that Apple will add support for subscribing to streaming services through the TV app. This would mean that you’d be able to subscribe to something like HBO Now directly through the TV app, rather than having to go to the HBO app itself. Today’s report says that Apple is telling entertainment companies “whose offerings will be available through the service” to be ready for launch by mid-April....

Apple is rolling out the sixth iOS 10.3 beta for developer testing on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The upcoming software update includes Find My AirPods support, CarPlay improvements, Apple’s new filesystem, and more. Apple today has added a ‘Remembering Robin Williams’ feature section in the iTunes Store following news of the actor’s passing yesterday afternoon. The section features a collection of movies, TV shows, and other performances with the incredibly talented actor including Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber, Hook, and Dead Poet Society, which inspired Apple’s recent ‘Your Verse’ campaign featuring ordinary people using the iPad in interesting ways. Apple’s eighth annual Supplier Responsibility Progress Report highlights the progress made on reducing child labor and enforcing working hour limits, and shows a significant increase in the environmental standards Apple’s suppliers are expected to meet. The number of cases of underage workers fell from 106 last year to 11 this year. Compliance with Apple’s requirement of a maximum working week of 60 hours hit 95 percent, with 97 percent meeting the requirement of at least one day off a week....

Right after releasing iTunes 10.5, Apple has begun seeding developers with the iTunes 10.5.1 beta, which also includes the latest iTunes Match beta. Like before, the release notes mention iCloud libraries will be deleted at the end of the beta. Apple appears to have taken to Tumblr to start up a new advertising campaign for the iPhone 5c. The campaign is called “Every color has a story,” and the webpage called “ISee5c” appeared within the past couple of days. The advertisements are videos portraying different iPhone 5c phone colors and case colors. Each roughly 15 second video plays a different song and showcases the dots featured on the rear of the iPhone 5c official cases and on the iOS 7 dynamic wallpapers…...

Lawmakers are voting for the opinion of their party rather than their true beliefs. Today we saw this in full effect. Democrats voted against the bailout today, not necessarily because they didn’t agree with it, but because it was proposed by George Bush. They figured that because George Bush has made mistakes in the past, he has no chance of doing anything right, and subsequently voted no to the bailout that could’ve helped a ton of people....

A translated report this morning from China Times (via Macotakara) appears to claim the iPhone 5S will be the first device from Apple to include fingerprint sensor and NFC technology. According to the report, Taiwanese company Chipbond will provide the integrated touch display driver and other components necessary to implement the technology on the next-generation iPhone. While details of the translated report remain sketchy, it seems to suggest that Apple will use the fingerprint tech that it acquired in its AuthenTec purchase as a security feature for NFC payments:...

Wells Fargo promised cardless ATM withdrawals using Apple Pay back in March, and has today announced that the facility is available at more than 5,000 machines across the USA. Weirdly, however, you’ll use your ATM PIN rather than Touch ID to authenticate … The bank began offering a clunky first step in cardless ATM usage back in March, and amazingly says that this notched up almost 3M transactions. Wells Fargo says that its remaining 8,000 ATMs will be upgraded with contactless technology by sometime in 2019....
