Update May 25: Following yesterday’s story, The Verge reported today that Apple has confirmed it removed the Airfoil Speakers Touch app after its recent 3.0 update introduced the ability to stream over AirPlay from other iOS devices. An odd application made its way onto the iPhone App Store called “GameStore” a few days ago. The application was deemed an Apple internal testing tool for their iOS in-app-purchase system, and the June 2009 date -the month of the event in which in-app-purchase was formally announced- on the application’s store page seems to affirm that. The application was quickly removed from the App Store, and today, buyers were informed that refunds for the application were issued to their iTunes accounts....

Apple has sent care packages to its employees in China who are stranded in the country due to the coronavirus outbreak. The care package includes items like food, hand sanitizer, and a 10.2-inch iPad. At its March event, Apple showcased Apple TV Channels, a feature that lets you subscribe to third-party streaming services directly in the TV app on iOS and tvOS. It looks like Apple may actually use Reno Nevada for something more than a Tax haven. According to several local reports, Apple is currently considering building a new data center in Nevada. macOS Catalina launched earlier this month, bringing the new Mac Catalyst platform to the masses. Mac Catalyst makes it easier for developers to bring their iPad apps to the Mac, but some developers have faced challenges doing so. In a new statement to CNET, however, Apple says that it is learning a lot as more developers adopt Catalyst. Todd Benjamin, Apple’s macOS product marketing director, says that the goal of Catalyst is to give iPad app developers “a huge head start” when coming to the Mac ecosystem....

Apple today has announced its annual celebration of the Chinese New Year. This year, the company’s promotion for the holiday is a one-day sale that will see customers receive a free pair of Beats Solo3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones with the purchase of a qualifying Mac or iPhone. Apple today released iOS 8 beta 4 to developers. It is now available via Software Update in Settings for those running earlier betas of iOS 8 on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
