Today we get our first glimpse at Apple’s plans for that upcoming flagship retail store that we noted earlier this week was in the works for Stockholm, Sweden. The images come from a presentation by Apple (via feber.se) showing off a model and renders of what the new retail location will look like located in Stockholm’s high profile Kungsträdgården area. The images and video show Apple’s plan for a single-floor Apple Store layout that isn’t unlike recent Apple Store designs, featuring floor to ceiling glass walls on at least two sides of the store and the usual wood table/demo area layout for products....

Apple trade-in values – the amount of credit the company will give you for older devices when upgrading to new ones – have been quietly adjusted by the company. You could see up to $40 more when trading in an iPad, but up to $540 less when trading in a Mac … iMore spotted the changes, starting with the good news. Then the not so good. The iPad Pro is now worth up to $525, up from $500....

Apple today updated its list of officially supported banks and credit unions for Apple Pay, adding over 35 new institutions across the US, Canada, Russia and Japan. Today’s additions to the list follow an additional 40 banks and credit unions that Apple added in the U.S. in November, as well as the launch of the company’s new Apple Pay Cash feature for person to person payments via Siri and iMessage that arrived in the US earlier this month....

Apple is promoting a new TikTok challenge in Brazil featuring the Apple Watch. With the hashtag #DançarTbConta – which translates to “Dancing also counts [as an exercise]” – Apple takes advantage of the popularity of the app in the country while promoting dance exercise on the Watch. Although it’s not the first time Apple is promoting an ad on TikTok, it’s the first time the company is doing so in Brazil....

A patent application published by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office earlier today reveals Apple is flirting with the idea of a universal touchscreen controller capable of controlling multiple devices including a “television, a video tape player, a video disk player, a stereo, a home control system, or a computer system.” The patent application is titled “Apparatus and Method to Facilitate Universal Remote Control” and was filed Sept. 30, 2011....

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerbeg has said that Apple’s App Store ‘deserves scrutiny’ when asked whether he considered it a monopoly which deserves to face antitrust action by governments. He declined to answer the question directly, but did strongly hint that he agrees … Zuckerberg made the comments in an Axios interview. As Business Insider notes, the Facebook founder contrasted the App Store with Google’s Play store. Well I certainly think that they have the unilateral control of what gets on the phones in terms of apps,” he replied....

Apple updated its iTunes Connect Mobile app today that allows developers to keep an eye on their app sales stats and related data from iTunes Connect. Among the new features are “enhanced product detail views for your entire catalog,” the ability to view app ratings and reviews from customers, a new advanced search feature, and user-interface refinements on the iPad. Developers will also now be able to reject apps submitted for review and release approved updates from within the app....

Apple’s apparent trend of expanding its R&D efforts beyond Cupertino continues with the announcement of a “large research and development facility” in Japan. While few details were given in local media reports (via Reuters), the source of the information appears rather reliable – a statement by Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo … Abe Shinzo said that the facility “will be on par with Apple’s biggest R&D centres in Asia.” After many years of restricting almost all R&D work to Cupertino, Apple has in the past couple of years opened development offices elsewhere, both within the US and globally....

Business Insider highlighted Cook’s celebration of Apple’s success in the enterprise market in the analyst call following its quarterly earnings report. Cook noted a recent IDC report on market share in smartphone and tablet in the U.S. enterprise market, putting the iPhone at 59 percent and iPad at 78 percent. Apple is believed to have made significant gains in iPhone adoption as a result of the implosion of Blackberry, once the default choice of corporate smartphone, and has been actively pushing the iPad as a business tool....

Apple today has shared a new ad for the recently released iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The ad focuses on arguably the standout new feature of the device: 3D Touch. In the ad, Apple highlights a variety of the use cases of 3D Touch and offers a brief explanation as to how it works. Apple describes the new “Peek and Pop” method of using iOS that the devices feature. The ad showcases using 3D Touch to quickly access navigation directions, music playlists, messages, Instagram profiles, and more....

Last week, Apple released iOS 13.5.1 to the public, patching the vulnerability used by the unc0ver jailbreak. Following that release, Apple has now stopped signing iOS 13.5. This means users can no longer downgrade from iOS 13.5.1 to iOS 13.5. Shortly after the release of iOS 13.5.1, Apple’s official security page was updated to say that the update fixed a vulnerability that allowed applications “to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges....

Following the release of iOS 14.0.1 to the public last week, Apple has just stopped signing the first iOS 14 release build. That means users who have updated their devices to iOS 14.0.1 can no longer downgrade to iOS 14.0. iOS 14.0 was released on September 16 after almost a three-month beta period. The update brings a major redesign to the home screen with widgets, App Library, and other new features....

Apple has formally announced the relocation of their Beverly Center retail store to a larger and more modern location inside the Los Angeles shopping mall. The new store is located on the same floor as Apple’s existing location. “An inspired move,” reads a message posted to Apple’s retail website. “Come see us at our new location on June 9th at 10:00 a.m.” The new store follows several months of low-key construction work inside the mall, hidden from view by a large, black temporary wall....

Amidst the craze of today’s moves was the unveiling of new Apple Watch Bands, including the much sought-after Nike Sport. You may recall that up until today, this popular band was only available with the Series 2 Nike+ model. The bad news for consumers? Apple continues to charge rather outlandish prices for its official watch bands with prices topping out at $689 for the Hermès double cuff....

Apple is releasing iOS 14.1 to the public today ahead of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro release on Friday. iOS 14.1 brings support for new iPhone 12 features as well as a long list of bug fixes and performance improvements. Apple has also released iPadOS 14.1 with support for the new iPad Air, which will also be available on Friday. iOS 14.1 brings support for 10-bit HDR video playback and editing in the Photos app for the iPhone 8 and later This comes as the iPhone 12 adds support for recording videos in 10-bit HDR quality....

Apple has seeded developers and the public with macOS 11.3 beta 4 today. The release comes two weeks after beta 3 arrived. macOS 11.3 comes with new sorting options in Reminders, expanded support for Xbox/PlayStation controllers, autoplay in Apple Music, and more. macOS 11.3 beta 4 is available and the OTA should be showing up in System Preferences > Software Update if you’re enrolled in the developer or public beta program (keep checking back if you don’t see it yet)....

Apple has long offered customers the ability to finance larger purchases and pay them off over time. In the U.K., however, the company is removing that option from its online store… Apple previously allowed U.K. customers to finance purchases through PayPal Credit or through Barclays. The former required a £99 minimum purchase, while the latter required a £399 minimum purchase. As first noted by MacRumors, however, both of those options have been removed from Apple’s website....

Ron Johnson, the mastermind behind Apple’s successful retail store strategy, has left Apple to become the CEO of JCPenney according to Bloomberg (terminal) via Business Insider. Johnson’s bio remains active at Apple.com and we’re waiting for confirmation. Meanwhile Apple Orchard is also reporting the same info.
