Apple has seeded developers with the second preview of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. The download is, again, available via the Mac App Store, and developers must get a redemption code from the Mac OS X Development Portal in order to download. After opening up preorders for its latest iPhones today, Apple has shared two new ads that highlight the durability and new camera features of the iPhone 11 Pro in a lighthearted way. Take a look at the fun “It’s tough out there” and “Triple-camera system” ads below. Both of the new ads are set in a futuristic-looking test chamber. “It’s tough out there” is a one-minute ad and features the iPhone 11 Pro on a stand as it’s pelted with everything from toy hammers and trucks to broccoli and a wedding cake....

Apple has today announced a date for when it will hand over operations of iCloud data services for residents of mainland China to GCBD. The change was announced last year so that Apple can comply with local laws. GCBD will manage a new Apple data center in China that will eventually store all iCloud data for Chinese customers. Affected customers are now being notified about the transition which will start on February 28....

Apple today has shared a new video advertising its new AirPods with wireless charging. Like other AirPods ads, this one focuses heavily on music and the wireless design of AirPods. The video is entitled “Bounce” and showcases an AirPods user moving effortlessly through city streets, bouncing off of everyday objects. However, aside from an Error 56 debug message, the device could not be restored through iTunes or DFU....

Apple has just released a new download for users on OS X Mavericks to address the recently-discovered “Shellshock” bug. Apple previously noted that that only a few Macs were actually impacted by the bug and that most users were protected by default. The company promised to release an update shortly to address those who had manually configured their computers in a way that left them exposed. For users on older versions of OS X, the Mavericks fix will not work....

Following news of a few new office openings outside of Cupertino lately, Apple has reportedly moved into office space in Lund, Sweden recently as well. A month after removing Infowars podcasts from Apple Podcasts, Apple today has removed the Infowars application from the App Store. The company confirmed the decision to BuzzFeed News late on Friday evening. Apple didn’t offer specific reasoning for the removal, instead pointing to its general App Store Guidelines. As BuzzFeed News notes, the App Store Guidelines are blatantly against defamatory statements, with the first clause prohibiting: Apple confirmed that the ban of the Infowars application is permanent and that the application will never be allowed back on the App Store....

In a fun new ad, Apple is showing off its Portrait Lighting feature in the iPhone X. The ad is set in a busy subway station and features professional lighting equipment that pops out of the iPhone X after trying to take a picture; suggesting that iPhone X takes professional, studio-like photos. Apple TV+ has made another notable hire for its development team. As reported by Deadline, Apple has hired Zennen Clifton as a creative executive. As the report explains, Clifton began his career at Endeavor/WME and has also spent time at Yahoo! Studios and MACRO. Despite Kodak filing for bankruptcy and planning to sell its digital camera business, Bloomberg reported that Apple asked permission from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to sue Kodak over patent infringement related to digital cameras, printers, and digital picture frames. Apple will also file a lawsuit in Manhattan with the U.S. District Court and a complaint with the International Trade Commission.
