The report could be based on crossed messages – Apple’s iPhone 3G launched in India last week, so in support of the new device a new iTunes Store for India has already been opened up – but this only offers iPhone applications at this time. Indian newspaper the Business Standard expects the company to extend what’s on offer through the store, introducing music downloads, podcasts, and eventually film and TV shows....

Apple today released new Boot Camp Assistant drivers for the 16-inch MacBook Pro. These drivers are required for installing and running Windows on Macs. The new 16-inch MacBook Pro was released last week with improved specifications, but some users noticed a specific problem with their laptop. Several reports on the Apple support forum mention that users were unable to proceed with the installation of Windows on their new MacBook. Boot Camp Assistant warned that drivers were not available for this particular Mac model....

Alongside announcing new Apple Watch hardware today at its September event, Apple has shared that watchOS 7 will be available for all users on September 16. watchOS 7 comes with a number of new changes and improvements. Two of the headlining features include native sleep tracking and watch face sharing. First reported by MacStories’ Federico Viticci, watchOS 7 will land tomorrow on September 16. Meanwhile, new workout types like dance, functional strength training, core training, and cooldown make it easier to accurately track exercise and automatic handwashing detection starts a 20-second countdown to make sure you’re cleaning your hands for long enough....

Cupertino City Council last night voted unanimously to approve Apple’s planning application for the circular campus building first presented to council members by Steve Jobs in 2011, in what was to turn out to be his last public appearance before his death. It was Steve Jobs who nicknamed the building the ‘spaceship.’ Although the approval is still subject to a final vote on 15th November, the San Jose Mercury News reports that this is merely a formality....

Update 1/20: App Store Distribution Data updated today revealing iOS 8 adoption has climbed 1% from its previous measure at 68%. iOS 8 adoption now measures at 69% of active devices according to App Store data captured January 19th. The rate increase is in line with MixPanel’s increase to roughly 71% now up from roughly 70% toward the start of the month. Apple has shared its latest App Store Distribution Data on iOS 8 adoption to report that some version of its current mobile operating system is installed on 68% of iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches....

Bribery charges leveled against Apple security chief Thomas Moyer have been dropped by a Superior Court judge, who said that there was no evidence to support the prosecution. The same is true of two police officers. The case was a bizarre one, in which prosecutors alleged Moyer offered $70,000 worth of iPads in exchange for granting concealed weapons permits to members of Apple’s executive protection team … Background Moyer last year applied for concealed weapons licenses for four Apple employees tasked with protecting senior execs....

Apple this weekend has shared three new videos in the United Kingdom as part of its “There’s more to iPhone” marketing campaign. The Apple Store app for iOS has finally gained the ability to checkout using gift cards. The feature has been inexplicably missing since the app debuted, but with the latest version users will now be able to import new Apple Store gift cards using their device’s camera or pull in existing cards from Passbook. Apple is teaming up with women-owned investment adviser Seelaus Asset Management, according to a new report from Bloomberg. Apple issued a press release (and updated iOS 4.2 page) ahead of the iOS 4.2 beta that just hit. In it, they detail the new AirPrint standard and its ability to work with HP ePrint printers. To confuse matters slightly, HP offers an iPrint iOS app (pictured below) that does iOS printing. It appears that MacOS 10.6.5 will also allow printing through a Mac with current developer builds offering that functionality....

New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced today that it is continuing the expansion of its OMNY tap-and-ride payment platform. OMNY supports contactless cards, as well as mobile payment platforms like Apple Pay, and it’s now available at Penn Station. Starting today, you can now use Apple Pay at 18 turnstile arrays serving the A, C, E and 1, 2, 3 subway lines at the 34th St-Penn Station intermodal complex. This is “one of the busiest transit hubs in North America,” MTA says....

Apple is planning a new Apple Store in Mexico as it continues to expand its presence around the globe. The new retail location will be located in the city of San Luis Potosi and construction is currently ongoing… Specifically, the Apple Store will be located in a new section of the El Dorado Mall. While Apple has not yet confirmed details about the store, there is a sign with Apple branding where the store will be located that reads “Próximamente,” or “coming soon....

Apple Podcasts Subscriptions allow creators to host bonus content and ad-free versions of their shows, in exchange for a monthly subscription. Apple Podcasts Subscriptions offer a lot of convenience for listeners. Fans of a show or network can subscribe with one button press inside the Podcasts app, using their Apple ID credentials. Following the WWDC 2021 opening keynote earlier today, Apple has now released the first developer beta of tvOS 15. The update brings some great enhancements for Apple TV users, such as Spatial Audio for first-time AirPods users and FaceTime SharePlay. SharePlay is a new FaceTime feature for sharing content during FaceTime calls, including screen sharing, music, and videos. The feature can work with third-party apps and streaming services using an API available to developers....
