Apple is planning a multi-year roadmap for its cross-platform app project. First previewed at last year’s WWDC with the launch of the News, Stocks, Home and Voice Memos app, Marzipan makes it near-automatic for developers to port iPad apps to macOS. A third-party SDK for Marzipan will launch at this year’s WWDC for iPad and Mac universal apps. According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to add Marzipan-esque conversion of iPhone to Mac apps in 2020....

Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook just talked about Apple’s services and numbers, as well as Maps, during its Q1 2013 earnings call. Cook said Notification Center sent more than 4 trillion notifications, and iMessages sent over 450 billion messages (about 2 billion per day). The Game Center also has 200 million registered users, while the App Store is at 40 billion downloads (2 billion occurred in December alone). The company even sold 2 million Apple TVs during the quarter (up over 60 percent year-over-year)....

Apple’s plan to establish 500 mobile-focused reseller stores in India is reportedly well underway, with NDTV Gadgets reporting that more than 100 of the partners for its Authorised Mobility Resellers (AMR) program have already been signed-up. An Apple-appointed contractor is building the stores’ interiors to ensure that they conform to Apple’s design and size requirements, before handing them back to the third-party resellers to operate. The partners are reportedly being selected by Apple on the basis of their track-record in selling Apple products....

Apple has released a third beta of iTunes 10.5.1 to developers with performance and stability improvements. The beta, which is now available on the iOS Developer Center allows for continued testing of iTunes Match. Apple’s email to registered developers: iTunes Match missed its planned end of October launch date, and now that beta releases are coming out more quickly, we think an official launch is not too far off. Apple is gearing up to soon begin hardware repairs for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in its chain of retail stores, according to sources with knowledge of the upcoming initiative. These sources say that Apple Stores will be able to replace several parts of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on-site, meaning that Apple will no-longer need to fully replace iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c units with damage or other problems…...

Senior Vice President of Industrial Design Jonathan Ive spoke at the British Embassy’s Creative Summit this morning about Apple’s design focus, and Wired was on hand to get the report. Chart via Apple had another blowout quarter this holiday and set records across the board. iPhones, which many estimated optimistically at 30 million, leapt to over 37 million to create the biggest quarter ever. iPads crossed 15 million for the first time, and even Apple’s venerable Mac line crossed 5 million units for the first time (likely helped by the popular MacBook Air lineup). iPods, if you needed a downside, were off by 20-percent —which is not terrible, because Apple did not upgrade most of the iPods available last Christmas....

Apple today has updated its homepage with a new promotion of “Apple at Work,” which describes how enterprises users can take advantage of iPhone, iPad, and Mac. A new video entitled “The Underdogs” from Apple showcases the various platforms in use. The video focuses on how various Apple hardware products all work together to create a cohesive ecosystem. Apple touts that when people “have the power to work the way they want,” they can change the future of their business....

In addition to watchOS 7 beta 2 and iOS 14 beta 2, Apple today has also released the second developer beta of macOS 11 Big Sur. UPDATE: This feature is apparently only a US-thing for the time being… Coincidentally or not, Apple has just made some back-end changes to the iTunes Store cloud as the new iOS 4.3.3 firmware updated for Apple TV went live a couple of minutes ago. As you can see from the above screenshot, it’s now possible to re-download purchased television shows in iTunes through the Purchased tab in the iTunes Store section of the iTunes desktop app....

Apple’s newest Shot on iPhone short film has hit YouTube today, this time in honor of Black History Month. The new short film, entitled Hometown, is part of a “series highlighting Black photographers across the United States.” Apple first announced this Hometown initiative on February 1, and it’s expanding the campaign with a new video today. Hometown features 32 of the “most visionary Black photographers” in the United States. The new Shot on iPhone video comes from Phillip Youmans, who is the youngest director to win at the Tribeca Film Festival....

Apple’s annual Apple Music Festival is taking place at the Roundhouse in London this week and this year, the company is going a step further in its activities at the venue. As announced in tweet by Apple’s VP of Environment Lisa Jackson, the company is giving the Roundhouse an “environmental makeover.” Apple says it is making major upgrades to several aspects of the Roundhouse, including its lighting, plumbing, and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems....

Apple TV+ has announced that the “coming-of-age drama series” Little Voice will premiere on Friday, July 10. This half-hour series comes from J.J. Abrams, Sara Bareilles, and Jessie Nelson. We’ve also got rumors of a new Apple TV+ series reportedly based on Gawker, as well as Daytime Emmy nominations. Little Voice features original music from singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles. The show is described as a “half-hour coming-of-age drama series” that is “fresh” and “intensely romantic....

Apple Pay is now available in Iceland for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac users. In a somewhat-unexpected launch, Apple Pay is now live with Arion and Landsbankinn. If you have a credit or debit card with one of those banks, head to the Wallet app to add your card … As the service is still rolling out, you may need to restart your iPhone to force the Wallet app to refresh and present the set up Apple Pay screens....

Apple is re-launching the iPhone 6, originally released in 2014, in a 32 GB gold configuration. This model is technically ‘new’ as Apple never sold the iPhone 6 in a 32 GB SKU before; it debuted with 16/64/128 GB options. The 32 GB iPhone 6 is going on sale at select carriers in Asia as a low-end model; the device is not sold by Apple retail.
