Apple and Epic Games have been fighting in court after the popular game Fortnite was removed from the App Store in August 2020, but there’s still a lot to come. Both companies are expected to face each other in a trial expected to begin on May 3, and Apple continues to strengthen its arguments to defend the App Store business model. Following the findings of fact and conclusions of law filed by Apple with the court last month, the company once again takes issue with Epic’s accusations that Apple uses monopolistic practices to prevent competition on its platforms....

CNET looked at some of the recent talks between Apple and the record labels recording Apple’s plans for a streaming, radio-like service. According to the report, Apple is working to strike deals with both the Warner and Universal Music groups within the week. Sony would still be one of the major holdouts. While recent reports have pinned the service’s launch for late 2013, CNET said Apple still wants to have a summer launch take place....

CNET reports that authorized resellers will be limited to those ‘who handle millions of dollars in Apple products,’ which will eliminate small businesses and individual sellers. “It was really a great thing for our family,” the 35-year-old consulting engineer from Colorado said, adding that the side business helped him pay off the medical bills, nursing school and existing student loans. “I feel our business is not being treated fairly and there’s nothing we can do about it,” Weil said, “and that’s what’s really frustrating” […] after selling $500,000 in merchandise through the site in the past two years, paying the company $80,000 in fees over the past three years and maintaining a superb seller performance record throughout....

Apple just updated the official Apple Store app that allows iOS device users to make and track purchases, check in for reservations, and schedule Genius Bar and One-to-One appointments. The first new feature included in version 2.2 of the app is the new Express Checkout that was previously only available to online shoppers through Apple’s browser-based online store. The feature enables quicker purchases by allowing you to skip the shopping cart checkout process and simply enter your Apple ID to have purchases billed directly to the credit card on your account....

Though it will take Apple eight months before they release their iPhone series this year, still till now, we have seen a lot of leaks that have picked the curtains on a few details related to the cameras and two vital design details. We told you in November that Apple had prototypes of an unreleased 15-inch MacBook Air floating around its Cupertino, Calif.-based headquarters. While it is in many ways similar to the 11- and 13-inch MacBook Air designs currently on the market, the prospect of a 15-inch Air left the future of Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup in question. We followed reports from iLounge in February 2011 that indicated Apple was working on a new MacBook Pro lineup for a 2012 launch described as a “milestone” for the product line....

Apple has officially inked a deal to settle a class action lawsuit in California that accused it of intentionally breaking FaceTime on older iPhone devices. According to Law360, Apple has reached an $18 million deal in the case. Through the settlement, 90% of the class action members will receive compensation, either through the mail or electronically. 3.6 million devices are said to have been affected by the update, and each class member will receive an estimated $3....

Macotakara claims that Apple is gearing up to launch a redesigned iPod nano later this year. This new iPod nano will return to the device’s old horizontal design, but will be 3/4 the height of the fifth-generation of the music player, according to the report. Additionally, the report claims that the device will gain a home button (makes sense with the current iOS-inspired user-interface) and that the design is thinner than the current model (without its backclip)....

SiriusXM is today rolling out an update to its iOS app with an updated user interface. Today’s update also brings the experience to owners of the Apple TV 4th generation and Apple TV 4K users, the company announced through a press release. In addition to being available on Apple TV, SiriusXM is also adding The Howard Stern Show to the app. Users had to previously AirPlay the show from the web to get access on their TV....

We’ve all read stories about safety nets being placed under manufacturing plant windows so employees can’t commit suicide, as well as incredibly long shifts. Also, there were articles about n-hexane, a chemical used to clean up screens, causing serious damage to the health of workers. It can cause nerve damage and paralysis. Also, in May last year, an explosion happened at a factory manufacturing Apple products, killing and injuring employees, as described in this New York Times report....

Following the release of the sixth developer seed yesterday, Apple has pushed out an update for users who are part of the OS X beta testing program. This fourth beta introduces the same changes that were added to the developer branch yesterday. Among the changes users will find a new General icon in the System Preferences app and a new blue wallpaper. The update comes with the build number 15A243d, compared to 15A244d for yesterday’s developer version....

Adele has been turned down by Apple as the company is refusing to sell her new album in its stores. Whilst that may sound surprising, it turns out Apple actually declined from stocking physical CD album copies of her album in Apple retail stores as per Adele’s representative’s request (according to The Daily Mail). Apple declining to stock physical media … shocking right? For the company that revolutionized digital music and released a streaming music service with much fanfare earlier in the year, it’s quite hilarious that a top artist’s team even tried such a request....

Apple has registered several new Apple Watch model identifiers in the Eurasian economic database, as spotted by Consomac. Apple is expected to unveil the new watches at its iPhone event in September. The ‘Series 4’ is listed across a total of six model identifiers, and is noted as shipping with watchOS 5. This filings suggests a slimming down of the lineup compared to what Apples offers with Apple Watch Series 3....

As promised, Apple has just released the iOS 8.4 software update featuring an all-new Music app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to the public after testing with developers since mid-April. While it includes smaller changes throughout, the update primarily delivers an overhauled Music app with Apple Music (notice the new icon), its brand new subscription music streaming service, and Beats 1, its 24/7 live radio station that launches today....

Apple has released the second iOS 9.3 preview beta for testers ahead of the big feature update’s general release. We’re less than a week away from the launch of Apple’s new Apple News subscription service, and the company is still working to finalize deals with major publications. The New York Times reports today, however, that Apple has made one notable deal with The Wall Street Journal. Apple has just seeded the first beta of the next version(s) of its Safari browser for OS X. The new versions, 7.0.3 and 6.1.3, will be available for Mavericks and Mountain Lion users, respectively. Earlier today Apple also released a new OS X 10.9.3 developer preview along with a beta version of iTunes 11.1.6 to employees. Based on the rapid release of these app betas and the decreasing time between OS X betas, the OS X update is expected to be available to developers later this week....

Ahead of the launch of Apple Watch next month, Apple has started advertising the product in its retail stores, as pictured in the photos above (via @mikesiOShelp). This is the first glance at Apple’s upcoming retail push for the device and comes as Apple kicks off a campaign for Apple Watch in fashion magazines, on billboards, and elsewhere leading up to the device’s launch on April 24 in 9 countries....
