IFO Apple Store reports that Apple is revamping its back-lit in-store photo panels, replacing its signature white-background product shots with visuals inspired by its recent advertising. Out are clean, sterile close-ups of the products, and in are colorful visuals showing what people are doing with the products. The new graphics were photographed like magazine ads, showing the iPad/iPhone being used in actual situations, complete with their surrounding people and places. Their colors, tone and brightness is much richer and darker than the previous graphics …...

Apple’s WebKit team today proposed a new Community Group to discuss the future of 3D graphics on the web. In a blog post on the WebKit blog, Apple’s Dean Jackson wrote about the company’s proposal to develop a standard API that exposes modern GPU features. W3C Community Groups allow all to freely participate, and we invite browser engineers, GPU hardware vendors, software developers and the Web community to join us....

Apple has released iTunes 11.3.1 (Mac, Windows) for OS X Mavericks today with a bug fixes for subscribed podcasts not receiving updates and for podcast episodes lists becoming unresponsive while browsing. The update is available in Software Update in the Mac App Store. The previous iTunes release, iTunes 11.3, brought iTunes Extras in HD to the Mac, and iTunes 12 is coming this fall with design updates for OS X Yosemite....

Update 11/30: Apple has issued a new version of the update with the same version number that appears to fix the File Sharing authentication issue caused by the initial fix. According to the Associated Press, Apple’s request to suspend Judge Cote’s decision regarding the e-books antitrust case has been denied. The future doesn’t look so bright for the iBookstores’ agency model, as it looks like the agreements with publishers will be ending very soon if things don’t turn around for Apple. A judge on Friday refused a request by Apple to temporarily suspend her ruling that it violated antitrust laws by conspiring with publishers to raise electronic book prices in 2010....

Apple today has officially scheduled its fiscal Q2 2020 earnings call for Thursday, April 30. This will be an incredibly important earnings release for the company as it comes amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. Apple announced in February that it would not hit its Q2 earnings range due to coronavirus and the associated supply constraints and economic uncertainty. Apple had forecast a wider-than-usual range revenue range for Q2, predicting revenue between $63 billion and $67 billion....

Apple has started prompting iOS 10.3 beta users to enable two-factor authentication with a new push notification. The prompt has only started appearing over the last 24 hours or so and seems to have hit most users in the middle of the night last night. If you swipe on the notification, you’re taken to a screen in the Settings app that explains what two-factor authentication is and how to enable it for maximum security....

Apple this afternoon has seeded the first beta of macOS 10.14.5 to developers. The update is available to developers through the System Preferences app on macOS. Earlier today, Apple released iOS 12.3 to developers, as well as tvOS 12.3 for the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K, and software version 7.3 Apple TV 3. These updates include the new TV app, as well as access to the Apple TV Channels functionality, which allows you to subscribe to third-party subscriptions directly in the TV app....

Now, Apple is again facing problems in the country, this time due to third-party applications by The New York Times. Apple continues to showcase the iPhone 11 Pro camera through its Shot on iPhone series of videos. In a new video today, Apple showcases the Ultra Wide camera capabilities of the device. Apple continues to slowly but surely build its plans for original TV content. Its latest deal is an English adaptation of the French TV series, Calls … Variety shared the news. In the original French version, there are ten episodes, each around ten minutes in length. Created by Timothée Hochet, the original “Calls” allows audiences to experience short stories through real-life audio sources and minimal visuals. As part of the deal, Apple has also acquired the rights to the first season of the French original ....

Apple’s design chief Jony Ive told the Telegraph that while his own team has worked using paper sketchbooks for more than 20 years, they are for the first time starting to use the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil instead. He said that while he’d started off demonstrating it, he’d then found himself using it for his work … Many of us in the design team have worked together for 20 plus years....
