Apple has announced its latest Apple Pay promotion, this time in celebration of Earth Day. Apple says that from now through Earth Day, which is April 22, it will donate $1 to Conservation International for every Apple Pay transaction made on Apple’s website, through the Apple Store app, or in Apple Stores. Just nine days after the last developer beta, Apple has released iOS 9.3 beta 5 to registered developers and public beta users for testing. This beta version is expected to restore full Apple Pencil support for scrolling and navigation on iPad Pros after earlier betas removed that function. Apple has reportedly removed from the App Store a number of games said to glorify the extrajudicial killings of suspected drug dealers and users in the Philippines. If you have an iPhone 8 or newer, you’ve probably already updated to iOS 16. Yet more dogs of war heard howling in the mists as we learn Apple has been quietly poaching senior enterprise sales staff from competitor, Research In Motion. The Wall Street Journal (via MR) tells us Apple has hired at least five members of the RIM enterprise team — and stresses there could be even more Apple switchers making the move to iPhone. In the past 18 months, at least five members of RIM’s enterprise-sales team have left the company to join Apple....

Apple confirmed the WWDC 2020 schedule last week, beginning on June 22nd with a special opening keynote that will be live streamed to everyone. The company has now shared on its official YouTube channel the link to the live video of this event, so that users can set a reminder for next Monday before the presentation begins. In a statement to CNBC, Apple says it is on pace to beat last year’s iPhone record with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus for opening weekend sales. Developers get downloading! Apple has just begun seeding iTunes 10.5 beta 8 (Mac only) and iWork for iOS beta 3 to developers, on the Developer Center. According to the release notes after the break, iTunes 10.5 beta 8 brings several bug fixes and performance updates for subscribers using iTunes Match beta. The new iTunes beta also brings the ability to back up to iCloud from inside of iTunes. We assume iWork for iOS beta 3 brings bug fixes, too....

Apple is looking to expand its Apple Wallet team with someone experienced in cryptocurrency and other alternative payment solutions, according to a new job opening posted this week. The position was first spotted by CoinDesk, and it is specifically for a “Business Development Manager – Alternative Payments.” The person chosen for the role would join the Apple Wallets, Payments, and Commerce team, which Apple internally refers to as the WPC team....

Update: It appears that 4K content is rolling out to all users – not just beta users. As Apple is just starting the rollout process, there’s like some wonkiness going on here that was causing 4K not to initially show on iOS 10 devices. Apple this evening has started rolling out 4K movies to the iTunes Store. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple and its suppliers are testing versions of the iPad and iPhone with larger displays. Due to mounting competition from hardware competitors like Samsung, a larger-screened iPhone has long been expected and rumored. However, this is one of the first specific claims for a larger sized iPad. In March of this year, an unverified claim emerged for a 12.9-inch iPad model being in the works with a rather unlikely name....

The State of Arizona today announced that Apple is planning to build a new manufacturing facility in the city of Mesa, Arizona. The facility will create 700 jobs for manufacturing, and an additional 1,300 jobs for the construction and management of the new facility, In total, Apple will be bringing at least 2,000 new jobs to the United States thanks to this new facility. In addition to the manufacturing facility, Apple will be constructing a new solar power grid in the city to power the manufacturing operations, according to Arizona’s announcement:...
