Apple today published a press release reminding customers about iPad Pro, Apple TV, and M1 iMac pre-orders beginning tomorrow. The press release also includes the interesting tidbit that not all of the seven iMac colors will be available to purchase or try at Apple Stores. As first spotted by 512 Pixels, Apple says only the green, pink, blue, and silver iMac colors will be available to purchase at Apple Store locations....

As the official release of iOS 5 comes in the next few weeks, Apple has begun seeding iWork for iOS beta 4 to the Developer Center. There’s no word if this build features anything besides bug fixes, but we’ll check it out and let you know. Last night, Apple also pushed out a small update to iBooks version 1.3.1. These updates are sure to be Apple getting ready for their official announcement of the next iPhone(s) and unveiling of iOS 5 next Tuesday....

Apple today has shared its latest advertisement for the fourth-gen Apple TV. This ad, entitled “The Kiss,” focuses on the Siri Remote that ships with the device. The ad is a one minute long spot and comes on the heels of Apple announcing its first original TV series. The ad features an appearance of HBO series Game of Thrones and shows using the Apple TV Siri Remote to do things like rewind content and find more content to watch....

Apple chipmaker TSMC says that while we’re expecting to see the first Apple Silicon Macs before the end of this year, there will be a big boost in production from the second half of 2021. Apple itself has said that it expects to complete the transition from Intel to ARM-based Macs within two years, but hasn’t given any indication on which models to expect when … Noted analyst Ming Chi Kuo is expecting the first Apple Silicon Macs to be the 13-inch MacBook Pro and a redesigned 24-inch iMac....

J.D. Power, which previously awarded the iPhone highest in consumer satisfaction for smartphones eight years in a row, today released a report that puts Apple on top for customer satisfaction by carrier. While measure four key metrics— performance, physical design, features, and ease of operation— across the four major carriers, J.D. Power found Apple and the iPhone’s overall score ranked #1 for Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. However, in most cases, it’s only beating Samsung by a small margin....

According to a new report from Variety, Apple TV+ has signed a new first-look deal with Idris Elba and his Green Door production company. Through the deal, Elba and his production company will produce original series and features for Apple TV+, the report explains. Elba founded the Green Door production company in 2013 and used it to create a variety of shows and films: Elba is well-known for his roles in films such as Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and his work on TV shows such as The Wire on HBO....

Apple has announced the latest update to its augmented reality platform with ARKit 3. The latest release brings some major new features like people occlusion, motion capture, multiple face tracking, simultaneous front and back camera use, and more. Apple lined up another record quarter (shocker) selling an incredible 20.34 million iPhones, 9.25 million iPads and 3.95 million Macs. iPods were down 20% YOY to 7.9M. The company earned $7.31 billion in net profit on revenue of $28.57 billion for the June quarter. Both are records for Apple…and it isn’t even a holiday quarter. According to a new report from Silicon Valley Business Journal, Apple has purchased a 43-acre development plot in North San Jose. The report claims that Apple paid slightly more than $138 million for the property, which is located on North First Street in San Jose. Today’s news comes just a month after Apple leased 300,000 square feet of already constructed building in North San Jose. Also last week, Apple leased 76,000 square feet of office space in San Francisco, marking the company’s first major office space in the city....

Apple has released the first macOS 10.13.3 beta through the Mac App Store. The latest beta software update is currently available to registered developers. The update is likely a bug fix and security update given this point in the development cycle of macOS High Sierra. We’ll update if any new features are discovered in the new beta. macOS 10.13.2 came out of beta last week and is available for all customers....

Apple Card is coming this summer, and we expect the new credit card from Apple to be supported in iOS 12.4. Apple hasn’t been more specific about the exact launch date for US customers, but the company has been releasing developer beta versions of iOS 12.4 without Apple Card included for several weeks. Apple will release the sixth developer beta version of the upcoming software update later today, hopefully marking the final pre-release seed before the update is ready for prime time....

Apple has made a notable hire in the podcasting industry this week. Inside Podcasting reports that Apple recently hired Emily Ochsenschlager, who previously served National Geographic’s director of podcasts. This hire comes as reports suggest Apple plans to start funding original podcasts. Ochsenschlager had worked at National Geographic for just over one year. Her responsibilities included building out NatGeo’s podcasting efforts and launching the company’s first podcast. Prior to her time at National Geographic, Ochsenschlager spent over 15 years at NPR, where she served as a producer and editor....

Following the recent attack by Chinese institutions on iCloud.com to attempt to steal account information, Apple has posted a new how-to article about verifying the page you visit when you type iCloud.com into your web browser is the genuine Apple site. The page doesn’t offer a fix per se, but walks through how to check the certificates of the page in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. In Safari, you can verify you are on the correct page by checking that the URL bar highlights green next to the words ‘Apple Inc’....

The man who was for seven years head of Apple’s Siri efforts has said that virtual assistants don’t deliver on their promise. Bill Stasior left Apple earlier this year, leaving the Siri team without a VP at the helm … He told Business Insider that no virtual assistant currently does what we really want them to. The big challenge, he says, is that human beings can ask any question, or give any instruction, using such a broad range of language....

If you’ve been holding out for a new standalone desktop display from Apple, you’re either going to take news of the Thunderbolt Display being discontinued as a sign of good things to come, or as a cue to finally purchase a new 4K or 5K display from someone else. For most, especially considering Apple itself is recommending you purchase a third-party display, the latter option is going to be the more likely....

Apple has released a new beta version of Safari to beta testers in the AppleSeed program and Mac developers. The new version for Mavericks is 7.1, while Moutain Lion users will see version 6.2. The update includes several upgrades to the WebKit engine that powers the browser. According to the release notes, the changes include support for WebGL, IndexedDB, and JavaScript tweaks, among other things. There is also apparently a change to the way the app handles extensions, as the beta disables all installed add-ons by default and the notes request that developers check for any compatiblity issues....
