With the iPhone XS, Apple introduced support for bokeh and depth control – allowing users to adjust the depth of field of an image after it has been shot. A report from Macerkopf today explains that Apple also plans to soon let users adjust the depth of field while taking a picture. This follows a similar mention in TechCrunch’s review of the iPhone XS. The feature is currently available in iOS 12....
If you purchased a new Apple device from September 2019 last year — like an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV — you were automatically eligible for a free year of Apple TV+. These trials would begin expiring at the end of October. If you are in that group, it turns out you are going to get a few more months to enjoy the service at no charge. Apple will be extending all Apple TV+ trials through February 2021....
Apple announced earlier this week at the Worldwide Developers Conference that Baidu will come to the iPhone in the iOS 6 software update, but it just came to light that the Cupertino, Calif.-based Company plans to seize a portion of the China-based search engine’s advertising sales as part of the deal. According to Bloomberg: Eric Wen, who rates Baidu buy at Mirae Asset Securities, told Bloomberg that Baidu previously shared revenue with websites to encourage traffic for the search engine, while it now has a focus on sharing with smartphone manufacturers....

The company said it works throughout the entire operating system, “even in Microsoft Word.” Apple did not unveil more information—not even showing the complete user-interface for dictation or how it works. We are sure to see more with future developer builds. Furthermore, Notification Center was given a bit of an update....
A source says that Atienza will be the director of all retail matters for many regions within the West Coast of the United States, and this role is one of the highest ranking retail positions inside of Apple. Several internal and external candidates were considered for the position, but the external Atienza is said to have been the best fit. While Atienza has already signed on with Apple, he is yet to actually begin his management role....
Apple has just released the fifth iOS 10.1 beta, marking the second developer beta released this week. iOS 10.1 includes the Portrait camera for iPhone 7 Plus that applies a DSLR-like blur effect over photos using the dual lens system. The iOS 10.1 beta 5 is a larger download, weighing in at 1.95 GB. The beta is available to registered developers and public beta testers. Apple has also pushed out the beta 5 for macOS Sierra 10....
Apple has released iOS 14.6 beta 3 to developers today, alongside iPadOS 14.6 beta 3. The updates are rolling out now to registered developers via the Settings application, coming just under two weeks after the release of beta 2. Update: Now rolling out to public beta users as well. Apple has released a new ad from the ‘Shot on iPhone’ collection featuring photos captured by customers, and this ad includes a familiar voice reading a famous poem over the slideshow. Dr. Maya Angelou is heard reading her ‘Human Family’ poem over shots of people all over the world. According to The Verge, Apple will begin airing this ad that debuted on the web today later tomorrow at the start of the Olympics....
Apple has updated its Podcasts app today with a number of new features. Among the most notable is the ability to create custom stations that update automatically as new episodes of podcasts are available. There are also a number of new enhancements for stations and playlists, including iCloud support to keep stations up to date on all your iOS devices. The app also now includes a redesigned “Now Playing” view that shows playback controls, as pictured in the screenshots above....
Yesterday news broke that Apple was reportedly going to shut down its newly purchased Beats Music streaming service which Apple quickly dismissed as false although it does sound like changes for the brand and service are in the works as you might expect. Re/code’s John Paczkowski shared today that such a rebrand could be slated for February: With Apple currently maintaining a streaming music service branded as iTunes Radio and a separate on-demand music service branded as Beats Music, it’s not hard to believe that the service is due for some reworking under Apple’s ownership....
In a new Apple Newsroom report, the company has shared how a group of ten students from Hollywood High School were able to create short films on tight budgets with Apple products. The students worked alongside creative professionals and Apple retail experts in a month-long film-making project. Apple also says that it worked with two other independent movie studios, We Make Movies and Mobile Film Classroom. During a two-week long post-production period, the students met with special guests and mentors from around the industry who gave them critical feedback on their work....

Today we find out, that on December 8, 2009, the US Patent & Trademark Office published Apple’s new trademark application for Think Different under application 77882684. Apple’s application makes note that Think Different was used as early as September 28, 1997. In 1997 there wasn’t an iPod and this may be one of the main reasons for Apple’s new trademark application for Think Different. However, Apple’s International Classification 009 now covers the iPod under MP3 audio players in addition to generically covering “Portable and handheld digital electronic devices” so as to cover any future tablet Apple may be contemplating in the future....
Apple Pay lets you make purchases in stores with your iPhone or Apple Watch with security and convenience, and select retailers like Walgreens also support Apple Pay-based reward cards. Soon even more loyalty cards will be supported through Apple Pay in Apple’s Wallet app thanks to Punchh’s Restaurant Marketing Cloud. Apple is releasing the fourth developer beta of iOS 13.5 today, following last week’s release of beta 3. iOS 13.5 includes improvements to the FaceTime app, Face ID, and the groundwork for Apple and Google’s Exposure Notification API. Just moments after releasing the second beta of iOS 9.3.2 to developers, Apple has now released a fresh beta of OS X. The latest released version of OS X released to developers is version 10.11.5. Apple pushed the first tvOS 9.2.1 and OS X 10.11.5 betas two weeks ago, focusing primarily on under-the-hood bug fixes and improvements for developers. These updates are far smaller than the recent tvOS 9.2 and OS X 10....
Following our report that Apple would be rolling out an updated Apple Store app today, the company has just updated the iPhone app to Version 2.7. The updated app includes several performance improvements, one of which brings improved product search capabilities. Apple is also working on a feature that would display offers to download free content to users while in the App Store, but it’s unclear if this version of the app includes that functionality....
What’s happened is that the new iPod touch and iPod nano models – fine though they are – are sadly incompatible with some iPod peripherals. What’s worse is that the feature manifests itself in the form of many older iPod gadgets being unable to re-charge your Apple music player. And the devices these new iPods aren’t compatible with aren’t your common old garden $10 cases and odd little leads – these are expensive systems, such as the Numark iDJ (first edition), some extremely expensive speaker systems (better than the iPod hifi, thank you), in-car iPod recharging devices, including the phenomenally popular Griffin iTrip and more…....
