Apple has released the latest versions of its iWork productivity suite today with 11.0 landing for the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote iOS and Mac apps. The new iOS builds feature support for precise editing controls, onscreen keyboards, the option to always open docs in edit mode, and more. Meanwhile, the new Mac versions include a new media browser, new AppleScript functionality, and more. Version 11 for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for both iOS and Mac should be available now for all users in the App Store....
Apple has pushed out a revised version of the recently released iOS 5.1.1. The original public build of iOS 5.1.1 is labeled build 9B206, while this new build is labeled 9B208 (direct download). This is only two builds newer, and probably represents a small fix in the software. Whatever Apple needed to fix was specific to the GSM iPhone 4 (iPhone 3,1) as no revised builds for other iOS devices have been released (perhaps yet)....
This is not the first time we have received hints that Apple is working on an innovative universal remote control for controlling TV and video content. In January, we told you that Apple was researching a touchscreen remote with adaptable user interfaces. The invention would essentially allow button layouts stored in the cloud or in a device (such as a TV) to be wirelessly and seamlessly beamed to the controller’s UI....
Last month, Apple announced that it was continuing its expansion of App Store Search Ads around the world, and today the platform has gone live in 12 additional countries in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Apple said last month that it would expand its Search Ads Basic platform to additional countries on August 22nd. Search Ads Basic is the counterpart to Search Ads Advanced, and is a far simpler way for developers to launch App Store ad campaigns....

The executive shuffle will see the creation of a new VP role for Apple’s Inclusion and Diversity team with Smith reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook. Sources say Smith has long had a passion for diversity initiatives at the company and the newly created position reflects an increased focus on the company’s efforts....
Along with the release of iOS 7.1 and a few updates to Remote, Podcasts, and Garageband, Apple has just updated its Logic Remote app to Version 1.1. The new update brings a revamped, streamlined interface that makes the app better fit in on iOS 7 as well as the darker color scheme of the recently released Logic Pro X. Also included in the update is “more scale choices for Touch instruments” which brings a number of new scale options for those playing Apple’s built-in virtual instruments....
Over the last few months, Apple has quietly relaunched the iPhone 6 in a ‘new’ 32 GB configuration around the world. The company has opted not to sell the product directly, instead distributing the device via carrier partners. The Apple Store has gone down ahead of Apple’s latest media event at 10 AM PDT today. Apple is widely expected to announce two new iPhones and a brand new wearable device. Interestingly, Apple has finally dropped the linen from its ‘We’ll be back’ page, finally modernizing it with a post-iOS 7 stark white design. When the store goes back up, it will likely include information about Apple’s latest announcements. Information about preorders for the new phones is not known....
Apple is reopening many of its still-closed US and Canadian retail stores this week as the company analyzes local health conditions and determines a safe path forward. Locations reopening this week include some stores in Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, Wisconsin, Ontario, Quebec, and more. As of June 23, 218 of Apple’s 271 US retail stores are open, following multiple waves of reopenings and local COVID-19 case number surges resulting in reclosings. A new report out from Bloomberg today details that Apple is close to opening online sales in India as the country has relaxed its rules for foreign companies and the requirement to source 30% of production locally to open retail stores. Apple has announced that it will hold a special one day shopping event in certain countries in Asia, dubbed “Red Friday,” on Friday, January 25th (via iPhoneHacks). The sale, which Apple has also held in previous years, is similar in style to Apple’s Black Friday sales events held in other countries. Apple also notes that free shipping will be offered for this sale, presumably for all items. The eligible countries include Singapore, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia....
The iPhone X will officially go up for sale this Friday, November 3rd and Apple has said that it will have stock in retail stores available for walk-in customers. Starting on November 4th, however, the company will also activate its Reserve and Pickup system in select countries… Apple updated its website in Australia, Belgium, and the United Kingdom to indicate the launch of the system at 6AM on Saturday, while customers in Canada, Hong Kong, Switzerland, and UAE will also be able to take advantage of the system starting at 8AM....
According to the report, Apple’s second iPad manufacture will either be Pegatron or Quanta Computers. Facebook today has unveiled its own SDK for the new Apple TV’s tvOS. In a blog post on its Developers site, Facebook says that using the Facebook SDK on tvOS will allow developers to build “immersive” social experiences on the platform including tools like login, sharing, and analytics. One area in which many believe the new Apple TV has fallen short is text input, especially when logging into services and applications....
This morning, Apple released a slew of country-specific press releases on the Apple Newsroom. In September, Apple released similar data for the US, stating that the iOS app economy supported 2.1 million American jobs. In the UK, Apple says the App Store supports about 330,000 jobs, an increase of 10% compared to a year ago. Germany has another 250,000 jobs, as does France. The pandemic has caused so many businesses to transition to online commerce, and this is reflected in these studies....
