Last month, Apple somewhat surprisingly released a physical book called “Designed By Apple In California” chronicling 20 years of its product design. Coinciding with the launch, Apple shared a new video of Jony Ive discussing the book. We have some interesting news to share with you this evening. The Apple Store went down at Midnight Eastern time. Since then, our retail contact went into Apple’s system and the only change noticed was the removal of the White iPhone SKU. Yes, removal. What does this mean? Perhaps nothing. Perhaps Apple is readying the new White iPhone with a new SKU? OR perhaps it has been kiboshed until iPhone 5 time....

Messages posted this weekend to Apple’s website confirm that the company’s Covent Garden and Wangfujing retail stores will close later this month to be refreshed with new store designs. Closing on June 24th, Apple Wangfujing first opened on October 20, 2012, making it just one week older than Apple Palo Alto, which began renovations last month. Apple Covent Garden will follow suit just three days later on June 27th. The London location first opened in July 2010 as Apple’s 300th store and was called the “world’s largest” at the time....

With the help of a lack of an Apple-manufactered iPhone 5 case, Apple’s retail stores have so far lacked any sort of iPhone 5 covers. However, Apple Stores will begin stocking a slew of third-party cases for the iPhone 5 later this month, according to multiple sources. Our sources say that Apple is currently scheduled to begin selling these cases the week of October 22nd, but this date could shift depending on supplies from Apple’s case partners....

Apple is taking a small-step to unifying the attire of its U.S.-based Apple Store employees this upcoming week: the black shirts worn by Apple Store Business Team members for several years will be going into retirement, and all Apple Store employees will begin wearing the same, classic blue t-shirts as normally seen on the store sales floors. Is this a move from the handbook of Angela Ahrendts’ fashion background? Probably not....

Owners of Vizio Smart TVs will now have access to the Apple TV app, which includes Apple TV+, Apple TV Channels, and also movies and TV shows for purchase and rental. The app is being released as of today for Vizio’s SmartCast-enabled TV. With the Apple TV app, users can explore the entire catalog of movies and TV shows available on iTunes, as well as Apple TV Channels — which enable third-party channels within Apple’s platform, including Starz, Showtime, and CBS....

According to recent data released by Parks Associates, Apple TV currently is the fourth most popular streaming media device based on 2014 sales, down from third place in 2013. Roku, according to the data, is the most popular streaming media device manufacturer with 34 percent of the market, while Google’s Chromecast accounted for 23 percent of sales. Apple Pay Cash is now available in beta for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. The new feature lets you send and receive payments using Apple Pay over iMessage as well as pay in stores with a new Apple Pay Cash virtual debit card. Apple Pay Cash will be available for all customers in the United States when iOS 11.2 and watchOS 4.2 are officially released, and developer and public beta testers can start using the feature today....

Apple has just released its eleventh annual Supplier Responsibility report, where it publishes details about how the manufacturers that make and assemble components for iPhone, iPad, Mac and all of Apple’s products treat their workers and the environment. In the 2016 report, Apple says that compliance with 60-hour maximum work week for employees has reached 98%, which is the highest ever. Apple suppliers have also reduced carbon emissions by 150,000 metric tons, the equivalent of taking 31,000 cars off the road for a year....

Apple TV+ made two appearances at New York Comic Con this year, with panels on Servant and For All Mankind. For Servant, Apple announced a launch date (November 28) and an advance look at the official trailer. The audience at the ‘For All Mankind’ panel got to see the first fifteen minutes of the first episode, and a panel interview with executive producer Ron Moore and lead cast. Unfortunately, the fifteen minute preview was not released publicly and video recording inside the venue was not allowed....

Apple’s annual developer conference is set to kick off at the beginning of next month. Now, in the lead up to WWDC 2017, Apple has started promoting a variety of developer community events that will be taking place during the week… In a post on its Developer blog, Apple announced that more events have been added to the schedule for WWDC week in San Jose. Under the “Beyond WWDC” branding, Apple is promoting events such as AltConf 2017, CocoaConf Next Door, The Loop Beard Bash, and much more....

Apple today is releasing the first developer beta of iOS 13.3.1 and iPadOS 13.3.1. This comes after the general release of iOS 13.3 last week, which included several new features for iPhone, iPad, and HomePod. iOS 13.3.1 focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements. Update: The first developer betas of macOS Catalina 10.15.3, iOS 13.3.1, iPadOS 13.3.1, and tvOS 13.3.1 are now available. watchOS 6.1.2 beta 1 is also now available....

Apple has released the iOS 10.3.3 software update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The update focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements for all devices running iOS 10. iOS 10.3.3 release notes: While iOS 11 is currently in development and due out this fall, iOS 10.3.3 may be of the last software update to older hardware that won’t run iOS 11. iOS 11 is currently in both developer and public beta so users can test major new features like drag-and-drop on new iPads before the official release later this fall....

In a collaboration with menswear brand Union, Beats By Dre offers a chilling scenario in an elevated form of advertising. The video begins with a view of a garden through a window. A drone appears to be on patrol. (Perhaps, to you, this is already normal. You need to own a patrolling drone to counter any flying machines that might invade your personal airspace....

With continued concern about the battery life of the 2016 MacBook Pro models, ArsTechnica has written a short piece outlining some of the obvious and less obvious reasons many users are experiencing as little as half the usage time claimed by Apple. There have been anecdotal reports of battery life being improved by the 10.12.2 update (hands-on video), but the site reports that Apple ‘told us repeatedly and emphatically that it had taken no specific steps to improve MacBook Pro battery life in this update....

The iOS 14.6 RC released to developers and public beta users last week revealed an unannounced new pair of Beats Studio Buds earbuds. Now, those earbuds have officially received FCC approval, further suggesting that an official announcement could be imminent. The FCC filing was first spotted by the folks at MyHealthyApple. The filing does not reveal any additional information about the features or design of the headphones, but rather servers as additional corroboration and indication of an impending release....

The Mayo Clinic announced today that it now supports Apple’s Health Records feature. This means that Mayo Clinic patients with a Patient Online Services account can now use Health Records to access health data directly from their iPhone. Using Health Records within the Apple Health app on iPhone allows users to gather their health data from different providers and institutions into a single location. It also allows users to see their health records alongside data collected by other third-party apps and from the Apple Watch....

Apple has shared a new video today on its YouTube channel taking a look behind the scenes at how Grammy-nominated Oak Felder approaches music production, how his MacBook Pro is important to his workflow, and more. The new almost seven-minute video offers a neat look at how Felder thinks and feels about music production. He also talked about how important it is for him to have quick access to all his production tools on his MacBook Pro and that it means he can easily pop into any studio at any time to work with an artist on the spot....

Apple today has shared a new trailer for its upcoming documentary based on Sean “Diddy” Combs, aka Puff Daddy. The documentary, from Live Nation Productions, will be an Apple Music exclusive and will debut on June 25th… “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story” follows Puff Daddy for a three-week rehearsal period as he reunites with members of his Bad Boy Records label for a sold out show at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn....

Less than two months after the Saudi Arabia government cleared Apple to begin marketing products and officially operate in the region, Apple has struck a sales deal with major Saudi Arabia-based retailer Jarir Bookstore. The deal includes both official sales inside of the Jarir retail stores as well as technical support for the products. Previously, Jarir had to use third-party means to secure its supply of Apple products, but now with Apple officially providing product supply, costs will go down for both the Bookstore and its customers, creating an overall improved experience for those looking to purchase Apple gadgets in Saudi Arabia....
