Rumors and speculation about Apple’s video streaming service have been floating around for a number of years now, and it seems like the company may finally be ready to launch its new service. According to a report from CNBC, Apple is preparing to launch its video streaming service in April, corroborating a report from The Information back in January. CNBC says that Apple is in “the final stages of preparing its new streaming video service”, and that similar to how the company handles Carpool Karaoke: The Series, it will offer some free original content for device owners and a subscription service for everyone else....
Workflow, the automation app recently acquired by Apple, has just released a new update with bug fixes and the return of Google Chrome and Pocket functionality. The actions which were originally pulled after the Apple acquisition, were added alongside the introduction of two new Apple Music features. Following the acquisition, Apple made Workflow free and began refunding recent purchases of the app. Soon after, the team behind Workflow made it clear that no further updates would be seen in the foreseeable future....
When the 2018 iPad Pro models were first released last month, consumers took to social media to complain that their devices were slightly bent out of the box or became bent during use. Now, Apple has confirmed to The Verge that some units are shipping with a “very slight bend in the aluminum chassis,” but the company does not consider this to be a defect. Apple says that in some cases, an iPad Pro might have a bent chassis out of the box....
Apple has just announced that its fiscal third quarter earnings call will take place on Tuesday, July 21st at 2PM PT/5MP ET. The call will report earnings from the three month period ending this month. Last quarter, Apple announced sales of 61.1 million iPhones, 12.6 million iPads, and 4.5 million Macs. The company reported revenue of $58 billion, including $13.6 billion in profit. Apple didn’t disclose sales for the Watch last quarter, and it seems unlikely that the company will do so this quarter either....
In its continued full-court Earth Day press, Apple is expanding its Reuse & Recycling program to help responsibly recycle more devices and get current generation devices into the hands of more customers. As of this morning, the iPad is now eligible for the in-store Reuse & Recycling program at Apple Retail Store locations that allows customers to receive credit for their aging Apple devices. In the past, customers could only receive trade-in credit for iPhones....
The Apple patent – which is available in its entirety here – describes ways to manipulate objects on a touch screen, including numerous user interface applications, detailed with accompanying diagrams. Bloomberg provides some detail on our report that Apple is working to dramatically upgrade its cloud infrastructure as it prepares to launch its Apple Music streaming service. The company is said to be working on designing its own storage and network equipment, rather than relying exclusively on third-party companies, and to build its own private fiber optic links between its key data centers in California, Nevada, North Carolina and Oregon....
Ahead of the Apple Watch launch next month, Apple has removed language from its website signaling it has received all necessary final approvals from the US Federal Communications Commission. Up until today, Apple’s website included the following footnote noting that the device had not yet been authorized by the FCC for sale: This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. In addition to iOS 11.3 beta 1, Apple has released the first tvOS 11.3 developer beta for Apple TV (fourth gen) and Apple TV 4K. The new beta follows one day after the release of tvOS 11.2.5 for all customers. When used with iOS 11.2.5 on iPhone and iPad, content playing on tvOS 11.2.5 appears as a Now Playing option in Control Center. In the future, tvOS will support AirPlay 2 and turn connected speakers into AirPlay 2 speakers....

Apple has officially made macOS 11.4 available to the public. The latest software enables support for several AMD GPUs as well as support for paid subscriptions in the Podcasts app, some serious security fixes, as well as smaller bug fixes for Safari, Preview, and more. macOS 11.4 is available now for all users and should be showing up in System Preferences > Software Update soon if it’s not already. Three weeks after the release of Xcode 7.1 to developers, Apple today has released Xcode 7.1.1 to the Mac App Store. The update brings about a handful of under-the-hood fixes relating to the new features added with the more significant 7.1 update last month. Apple says that Xcode 7.1.1 improves the overall stability of the app, making for an improved developer experience. Apple also says the update fixes “critical issues” in the Interface Builder, debugging, and UI testing....
A report last week said that Apple had lost a trio of its top sales executives in India as its iPhone sales continued to fall in the country. Now, new data from Counterpoint Research indicates Apple secured just 1 percent of the smartphone market in India during Q2 of 2018… According to the data, Samsung came in atop of Xiaomi to become the top smartphone maker in India with 29 percent of the market, up from 24 percent during the same quarter last year....
Apple has reportedly axed one of its upcoming TV shows, according to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter. Due to disagreements over the focus of the show, Apple has scrapped the Apple TV+ dark drama “Bastards” that would have starred Richard Gere. Apple, today, has filed a lawsuit against Motorola over their use of Qualcomm technology, as reported by Reuters. Apple explains that Motorola has breached a contract pertaining to their use of a patent license and “asks this Court to enjoin Motorola from prosecuting and 4 enforcing its claims against Apple in Germany.” The root of the lawsuit is essentially Apple’s strike-back at Motorola for attempting to stop sales of Apple’s 3G products in Germany....
