Over the last week, YouTuber users have been reporting an error message claiming that “something went wrong” when trying to load a video on the YouTube app on the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. YouTube says it is aware of this issue and investigating a fix. “For 2 days now, the YouTube app for Apple TV has not been working. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. The new version has not pushed to my Apple TV yet....

Update: Apple has also released the sixth public beta of macOS Catalina. Apple today has released the first public beta of iOS 13.1 to testers. This comes after the surprise release of the first developer beta yesterday afternoon. iOS 13.1 adds back many of the features removed in the iOS 13 beta, including things like Share ETA in Maps, Shortcuts Automations, and audio sharing. Apple is rolling out the third watchOS 3.2 beta for developer testing on Apple Watch. watchOS 3.2 beta includes Theater Mode which disables raise-to-wake and mutes alerts. Apple is also introducing SiriKit to Apple Watch with watchOS 3.2 beta. SiriKit lets developers integrate their apps with Siri for select uses. With the accessory in short supply at Apple Stores, the new Apple Pencil stylus for the iPad Pro is listed for as high as $400 on eBay, four times the $99 sticker price through Apple. Most models of Apple’s new 12.9-inch iPad Pro launched last week are available at Apple Stores and shipping for online orders in 1-7 days, but accessories for the device are harder to find. Despite Apple’s new Smart Keyboard case and Apple Pencil stylus being among the the standout new features alongside the iPad Pro’s larger display, they appear to be in shorter supply with both backordered 4-5 weeks online and hard to find in stores after hardly being available on day one....

Sipgate enabled iPhone users to make VoIP calls when connected to a local WiFi hotspot in Germany, which raised the anger of Apple’s German carrier, T-Mobile, which launched legal action to ban the app. The court agreed with T-Mobile that Sipgate had used unfair business practices in order to attract consumers that are otherwise locked to T-Mobile while making calls. The carrier also argued that because use of the application required that users jailbreak their iPhones, thus breaching their agreement with T-mobile....

Ars Technica posted Apple’s legal response (PDF) to the U.S. Department of Justice’s lawsuit against the Cupertino, Calif.-based Company, and six publishers, for allegedly conspiring to fix eBook prices. In the document, Apple condemned the federal government for siding with “monopoly, rather than competition,” and then called the Department of Justice’s complaint “fundamentally flawed as a matter of fact and law.” Phrases like “false” and “absurd” appear throughout Apple’s response to the accusations, which parallels the company’s statement from April, in regards to the suit’s filing, where Apple essentially said it is breaking monopolies, rather than starting them....

Apple has agreed to repay $4.2M to settle a claim by the L.A. Unified School District over the disastrous attempt to put an iPad into the hands of every student, reports the Los Angeles Times. It was first reported back in April that the LAUSD might take legal action against Apple to recoup the money spent on iPads for the program. A new drama series is set to debut on Apple TV+ called Lessons in Chemistry. According to Variety, Brie Larson will executive produce as well as star in the new series. Apple Pay is facing scrutiny in the European Union, as a report earlier this month first detailed. Now, a new report from Reuters dives deeper into the antitrust concerns regulators in the EU have about Apple’s contactless payments platform. Today’s report explains that EU antitrust regulators have been asking online sales companies “whether they have been told” to use Apple Pay instead of rival payment platforms. Alongside new iPads themselves, Apple today has announced a new accessory case that integrates the Apple Pencil. The new accessory offers a slot for holding your Apple Pencil when not in use, a common problem since the iPad Pro’s inception. As you can see in the image above, the new case allows users to store the Apple Pencil along the top in a sort-of pocket.
