Apple updated the Apple TV today with two additional channels: Hallmark Card’s Feeln network and A&E’s FYI network. The Feeln network includes “family-friendly movies, documentaries, and short films” according to its description. The FYI network owned by A&E and formerly called The Biography Channel “features lifestyle programming, with a mix of reality, culinary, home renovation and makeover series.” Both new channels are available automatically or by rebooting the Apple TV.
Hallmark Card’s Feeln network, formerly called SpritClips, is a subscription-based network for movies and TV shows with monthly plans starting at $3.99. Apple TV users can sign in with an existing paid account, or new customers can subscribe directly through the channel. Rates through the channel include $3.99/month billed annually at $47.99 or $4.99/month billed monthly at the higher rate.
Currently the network features movies including Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Babe, Free Willy, Grease, and Annie. The network also includes its own original programming. Feeln offers an iOS app on the App Store for subscribers; you can find out more about Feeln through the Apple TV channel or the network’s website.
FYI, formerly The Biography Channel and Bio, features reality shows and drama series including Unlivable, House vs. House, and Midnight Feast. The channel belongs to the A&E network which includes other Apple TV channels like A&E, Lifetime, and The History Channel. Cable subscribers can access the channel’s full content on Apple TV with the usual sign-in process for paid cable customers.
Compatible TV providers include Bright House, DirecTV, Dish, Optimum, Time Warner Cable, Verizon Fios, and a long list of supported regional providers as well. Some content is available without verifying a subscription.
