Apple has overhauled its developer guidance for in-app subscriptions, with new pages in the Human Interface Guidelines and App Store documentation pages. The revamp reorganizes existing advice into a more modern design with clearer segmentation of sections, as well as clearly detail some ground rules for the first time. For instance, the price of a monthly subscription must be clearly shown. Conversions into yearly savings, or similar advertising copy, should be less prominent than the actual amount customers pay in each renewal period....

Apple has today shared a new video on its UK YouTube channel highlighting the British music scene, specifically artists who use or have used the Mac to create, compose, record, and mix. The new one-minute video features a simple slideshow style highlighting various UK artists in black and white photos. Apple achieved its highest ever market share in rival Samsung’s market of South Korea in Q4 2017. Apple released a beta today of ProRes Raw for Windows that brings compatibility for the codec to several Adobe apps on Microsoft’s platform. Servant is one of the most popular shows on Apple TV+, with its second season now available on Apple’s streaming platform. This week, the company announced that Servant has been nominated for the 2021 TV Choice Awards in the Best Drama Series category. A new report compiled by Parker Associates and discovered by Gigaom revealed that the Apple TV has lost some U.S. market share to competitors like the Roku and Chromecast last year, causing it to become only the third most popular device in the category. Apple has released the second iOS 10.3.3 public beta for users to test without paid developer accounts. The update likely includes bug fixes and performance improvements as well as new wallpapers discovered only on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro… Apple’s public beta program is free to participate in unlike its paid developer program. iOS 10.3.3 will be released to everyone likely next month, and the public beta allows more users to test pre-release versions of the software update before it’s finalized....

Update: The latest build is now available to macOS Public Beta users, as well. Apple is rolling out the fifth macOS 10.12.4 beta for developer testing. The upcoming version of macOS Sierra is the first to bring Night Shift to the Mac. Build 16E183b is currently available on Apple’s developer portal and should be available through the Mac App Store soon. macOS Sierra 10.12.4 beta is currently only available to developers and public beta testers....

It is an open secret that the App Store is a huge revenue and profit driver for Apple but to date Apple has not disclosed figures that break out exactly how profitable the App Store is.
