The Times of India reports that Apple is planning to re-introduce the 8 GB version of the iPhone 4 in India to combat its sluggish sales. The report states that the company hopes the even lower price of the device will help win back its share of the market, which is slipping away to competitors. The phone would be available at a lower price than before, reportedly around ₹15,000 (about $240)....
Apple launched its first Apple retail stores in May, 2001, entering the high street market in the same year Gateway began to divest itself of its own-brand retail shops. Critics warned Apple would fail in the scheme. David A. Goldstein, president of researcher Channel Marketing Corp. famously told Business Week: “I give them two years before they’re turning out the lights on a very painful and expensive mistake.” He was wrong....
In a well coordinated leak, both the LA Times and WSJ are reporting Apple is currently in talks with Hollywood movie studios to secure rights to store and potentially stream content with iCloud as early as late 2011 or early next year. The LA Times’ report even mentions the possibility of Apple opening up content from the studio-backed Ultraviolet streaming service to iOS apps. Perhaps a trade-off that allowed them to secure deals for iCloud?...
It appears that Apple is toying with a novel idea calling for small retail stores that can be built quickly nearby high-trafficked shows and conference locations. The company would literally lease the spot for a couple of weeks to sell its gadgets to showgoers. One of the videos was uploading to Apple’s YouTube channel, while other was shared on The Late Late Show’s channel. In addition to interviews with the press, Apple is celebrating 30 years of Mac with a full-bleed graphic on its homepage, which links to a minisite that plots how the Mac evolved over the years. Apple has announced on its Investor Relations website that its Q3 2012 results will be released on Tuesday, July 24th. The call will be held at 2PM Pacific/5PM Eastern time. Streaming will be available via QuickTime through Apple’s website. Apple will release OS X Mountain Lion this month, and notably, Apple released OS X Lion – last year – on the day following their Q3 2011 earnings call. Apple has posted a note on its official Investor Relations website to indicate that it will be holding its Q3 2014 earnings results announcement and conference call on Tuesday, July 22nd. The call begins at 2PM PT/5PM ET, and Apple usually releases the numbers in the form of a press release around 1:30PM PT/ 4:30PM ET. After Apple TV 6.0 was released on Friday with iTunes Radio and other enhancements, there were many reports of botched updates that required the user to restore their Apple TV. Apple is about to discontinue repair support for a handful of products as it plans to designate some Apple TV, iPod, and display models ‘obsolete’ a day before its iPhone event next month. Apple has decided to pull its planned WWDC new Apple TV hardware announcement, according to a new claim. A new report from Business Insider today reveals that after making its first stab at acquiring Leap Motion back in 2013, Apple may have made another offer between $30m-$50m for the augmented reality start up this year. Leap employees were reportedly celebrating this past spring when it seemed Apple was close to acquiring the company for as much as $50 million. Apple is said to be planning to launch a subscription service for games. A report from Cheddar cites five anonymous sources that suggest Apple is talking to game developers to be part of a new subscription service. Similar to Netflix, users would pay a set fee for unlimited access to a selection of titles. Further details like pricing or availability were not stated. The talks apparently included Apple acting as a publisher for titles, which would see Apple talking a more hands-on approach in the release of new games....

The first home automation products using Apple’s new Siri-controlled HomeKit platform will arrive next week, according to sources briefed on Apple’s plans. The company first introduced HomeKit last year alongside iOS 8, introducing a framework for developers to build home automation accessories that could integrate with one another and be controlled using Siri.
