After updating iWork for iCloud and its Mac and iOS counterparts, Apple has pushed out a new Safari update as well. The new version is 7.0.3 and contains mostly bug and security fixes. Apple has been beta testing this update with developers for the past few weeks. The two biggest parts of this update are changes to push notifications and the way URLs are handled. For users who don’t want to be asked about push notifications from any site, there’s now a checkbox in the notification preferences that disables them entirely....

Apple today is releasing the fifth public beta of iOS 13. This comes following the release of the sixth developer beta yesterday. Japanese Apple rumor blog Macotakara has a new report today indicating that the successor to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will come in an all new color. The site says Apple will add a red casing color, joining the existing Black, Jet Black, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold options. Apple today has officially rolled out live sports to users of the Apple TV app in Canada. This means that users can now easily track sporting events through various providers and services with the TV app on iOS and tvOS… First discovered by MacRumors, Apple updated its availability support page this evening to reflect the addition of live sports in Canada. With this comes a new “Sports” tab in the TV app that highlights upcoming and currently airing sporting events, such as the FIFA World Cup....

Apple originally debuted its new iMac Pro back at WWDC in June, saying it would be available in December. Apple is now selling a new generation LG UltraFine 4K Display for the same $699 price as the previous generation. The product is now listed at the Apple Online Store with shipping from tomorrow. The new model is a mixed bag. It features a larger 23.7-inch screen but the resolution is actually lower than the previous 21-inch incarnation. This means the effective pixels-per-inch is also lower. Today we’re comparing the forth generation Apple TV to the NVIDIA Shield. These are quite possibly the two best set top boxes out right now. Reader Beau Giles reports, “Apple Pay works anywhere there’s existing PayPass or payWave terminals – and in Australia we’ve got plenty of them…While Apple restricts cards to US issued cards, they do work with Apple Pay just fine elsewhere.” Beau notes that Apple Pay appears to be based on the region set on a user’s device and is not necessarily tied to an iTunes account (although it does offer the option to use a card on file through an Apple ID)....
