What better way to show someone you care than by presenting them with a laser-engraved iPad? Alright, there’s as many different ways to express care as there are humans standing underneath the sun, but now it seems Apple is preparing to unleash engraved iPad messages to contribute to that smorgasboard of choice. Just like those really rather popular engraved iPods, right? This report emanates from tech blog Erictric, who claim their (anonymous) source is saying Apple intends offering personalization (engraving) on demand....

Apple’s latest video series promotes an iOS 10 Photos feature called Memories that automatically builds collections of related images and videos around themes like dates, places, and people. The series includes both a full-length iPhone ad as well as a new tutorial on using the Memories feature. The iPhone commercial is one of the warmer, more sincere ads out recently as it centers around showing real memories and photos and videos kept in the Photos app to create Memories....

Apple’s 1m USB-C to Lightning Cable, which allows faster charging for compatible iPhones and iPads, has been reduced in price. When the cable debuted, the original price was $25 for the 1m version, and $35 for the 2m version. It appears that last month, Apple quietly dropped the price of the 1m USB-C to Lighting Cable by $6, going from $25 to $19. This change comes amid rumors that new iPhones will drop the USB-A-equipped Lightning to USB Cables in favor of USB-C cables that are able to facilitate faster charging....

Just the week following the public release of iOS 9.1 with bug fixes and new emojis, Apple has seeded the first beta of the upcoming iOS 9.2 to developers. Apple today has released the tenth developer beta of macOS Catalina. The new version of Apple’s operating system features a new Music app that replaces iTunes, Podcasts and TV apps, updates to the Photos interface, a brand new Reminders app, extended desktop in Safari, updates to Markdown, Screen Time on macOS and the new ‘Find My’ app. If you’re already running the developer beta of macOS Catalina, you can update to beta 10 through System Preferences....

Alongside software updates to iOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and HomePod today, Apple has released Shortcuts 2.1. The update includes improvements to iCloud sharing, new measurement conversions, Weather integration, and more. With today’s updates, shortcuts you create can now integrate current weather and upcoming forecast information. To do this, you’ll simply need to add the “Get Current Weather” or “Get Weather Forecast” actions to your shortcut. Other new actions include “Create Alarm,” “Toggle Alarm,” and “Start Timer....

There’s a new software update awaiting Apple TV 4 owners as Apple released a small point update for all users today. tvOS 9.1.1 likely includes bug fixes and performance improvements without adding any major feature changes. The update, however, does include the new Podcasts app that first appeared in tvOS 9.2 beta. The bigger update coming in the future also includes channel folders, Bluetooth keyboard support and more. You can update your Apple TV 4 through the Settings channel from the Home screen....

Earlier today Apple released a new wireless Magic Keyboard with numeric keypad, filling a long-standing hole in its accessory product lineup. While the new keyboard is a great option for many customers, it seems Apple has removed the much more affordable $49 wired keyboard with numeric keypad from its online store… While the wired keyboard with numeric keypad definitely wasn’t for everyone, it was a cost-effective option to have full functionality while sticking with an official Apple product....

Apple’s ResearchKit system is going international for the first time since its launch earlier this year with Stanford University’s MyHeart Counts app being made available for UK and Hong Kong iPhone users. The MyHeart Counts app was among the initial iPhone-based research study apps that debuted this year. Stanford said just after the app’s release that ResearchKit did in 24 hours what would ordinarily take 50 medical centers a year to accomplish....

Last week Apple was granted permission to publicly test self-driving car technology on California roads, and now a new document has surfaced that details Apple’s self-driving car training program for drivers. The new document provides further evidence that Apple is actively working on autonomous driving technology internally. Business Insider obtained the document entitled “Development Platform Specific Training” which refers to the “Apple Automated System” used in self-driving vehicles: The document itself details technology used by drivers including Logitech hardware and basic driving maneuvers like tight u-turns and sudden braking or acceleration....

Apple is suing former A-series chip lead Gerard Williams, accusing him of breaking his employment contract and ‘exploiting’ Apple technology. Williams, in turn, says that Apple’s non-compete clause is unenforceable under California law and that the iPhone maker illegally monitored his text messages… Background Williams is said to have led the development of the A-Series chips which power iPhones and iPads, responsible for everything from the A7 chip first used in the iPhone 5S through to the A12X used in the current iPad Pro lineup....

The same Bootcamp support page that either reveals an upcoming Mac mini refresh or a misprint also listed an iMac 27-inch mid-2014′ model before the page was updated – spotted by French site Consomac. The model was listed above the 21.5-inch mid-2014 iMac released last month. That model was a low-end one, with a 1.4GHz dual-core i5 processor and 500GB hard drive. Back in October of 2012, Apple introduced the ability to purchase gift cards via the iPhone and iPod touch Apple Store application. These gift cards could then be shared via email to family and friends for use in the Apple Store. These gift cards could also be used via the Passbook application that Apple introduced with iOS 6. Since that time, the functionality has been exclusive to the United States, but today, Apple has taken it international....

As a Juneteenth celebration, Apple has made its original film The Banker free for the rest of June. The movie stars Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson, and tells the true story of how two African American businessmen in the 1960s took on the racist establishment. Their actions led to the instatement of the Fair Housing Act in 1968. We had many of the details for the 13.3-inch Retina MacBook Pro ahead of today’s unveiling, but Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller just confirmed the device’s specs and pricing. As we told you earlier, the new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro comes in two base configurations (with a third 2.9GHz dual-core i7 upgrade option available) and gets many of the enhancements that the 15-inch version received. Schiller noted that the device is 20 percent thinner than the previous generation 13-inch MacBook, and it includes a 2,560-by1,600 Retina display with 29 percent higher color contrast and 75 percent reduced reflection....

Apple Pay partner MasterCard used the PGA Tour kickoff in Phoenix earlier this year to promote Apple’s mobile payment service, and today MasterCard announced that Apple Pay will be accepted at the upcoming Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Florida. MasterCard says that almost all vendors at the golf event will accept Apple Pay and other contactless payment options for paying for merchandise and concessions. MasterCard and the PGA TOUR debuted contactless payment acceptance at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in January, allowing spectators to use mobile payments platforms like Apple Pay for the first time at a TOUR event....

Apple has yanked popular photo-sharing app 500px for iPhone and iPad from the App Store over “concerns of nude photos,” according to a report by TechCrunch. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company pulled it from the App Store around 1 a.m. EST on Tuesday. The startup’s COO, Evgeny Tchebotarev, told TechCrunch that Apple doesn’t want children to search and find nude photos unintentionally via the app: Tchebotarev clarified that 500px does not allow pornography, as it is against the service’s terms and conditions, and the nudes found within the community tend to include an “artistic” nature....
