The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are now available, and Apple is celebrating the launch with custom eye-popping displays. The larger-than-life installations are now in the front windows of a select number of Apple Stores worldwide, including fewer than a dozen locations in the US. Five massive iPhone frames arranged like flower petals surround all five finishes of the iPhone 12 displayed on individual polished pedestals. Each phone runs an animated demo loop and the fixture corresponds with a multicolored neon glow....

Apple is under investigation that may lead to another lawsuit, this time from the Texas Attorney General who is leading a multi-state probe. The investigation is looking into Apple over the possible use of deceptive trade practices that may have broken consumer protection laws. Reported by Axios, details are unclear at this time exactly how the Texas AG and the multi-state investigators believe Apple may have broken consumer protection laws regarding “deceptive trade practices” but the probe may lead to the latest lawsuit against Apple....

According to the iPhone in Canada blog, American Express representatives have confirmed that eligible American Express bank cards will be able to use Apple Pay from tomorrow in the country, Tuesday November 17th. Apple announced on its last earnings call that American Express would lead the expansion of Apple Pay beyond the UK and US, with Canada and Australia coming by end of year and Spain, Singapore and Hong Kong to be added in 2016....

Apple has published a new page on its website titled “Life on iPad.” The page highlights stories of iPad usage in a variety of capacities from Broadway to the operating room. The page also features the video from the iPad Air keynote showing the iPad in many of these same uses. There are six total stories on the page, each with an entirely different take on how businesses and individuals are using the iPad to to improve their jobs....

One new features the update brings is called CarPlay. This helps you integrate maps, messaging, and music in select 2014 vehicles with built-in touch display’s. But you’ll need an iPhone 5, 5S, or 5C to use it. iOS 7.1 Update The iOS 7.1 update has some features you may or may not be able to use — depending on your device model. But the main reason you’ll want to grab this one is for the security patches under the hood....

As we reported earlier this week, Apple has shared that it will open the public beta version of OS X Yosemite tomorrow, July 24th, for users wanting to preview the upcoming version of the Mac operating system ahead of its release targeted for this fall. Users can sign up to be an OS X Beta Program member on Apple’s Beta Program site. Apple says the OS X Yosemite beta will be updated less frequently for the OS X Beta Program than the version via the OS X Developer Program, but users running the public beta of OS X Yosemite will be able to install the final release of OS X Yosemite over the beta version when it’s readied for release in the fall....

Although Apple has yet to confirm the existence of “Project Titan,” it seems like every week brings a new clue that the company is indeed working on an electric car. We learned that Sixty Eight Research, a sketchy firm widely believe to be a front for Apple’s effort in the automotive business, recently attended the 17th Global Car Body Benchmarking Conference in Germany. The list of participants included almost every major automotive company from GM to Honda, as well as a lot of important part suppliers like Magna and Alcoa....

As first reported on Monday, Apple is said to be preparing a home automation system for debut at WWDC next week. While this was the first anyone had heard of any such plans, several different sources have quickly come together to give an idea of how an “Apple Smart Home” will likely function. On Monday, as noted above, the Financial Times first reported that Apple’s new program would not consist of a group of first-party automated appliances or other devices connected to an iPhone....

NetworkWorld has a great pull of a Jony Ive deposition which references looks at early iPad prototypes which were much thicker, made of plastic and buttonless on the face: During the course of the deposition, Ive at one point is shown photos of a three dimensional mockup of a tablet that Apple produced as part of the discovery process. It’s referred to as the 035 mockup or prototype. Following the launch of Apple News+, Apple confirmed last month that it would shut down Texture at the end of May. Apple originally acquired Texture in March of 2018, using it as the basis for what would become Apple News+. Now, a new report from the New York Post offers more information on the details of Apple’s Texture acquisition. According to the report, Apple will have paid $485 million when it is all said and done for Texture....

Apple’s chief financial officer Luca Maestri has said that the company expects its growing revenue from services like iCloud and Apple Music to boost Apple’s overall profit margin, but the exact impact will depend on the product mix within the category … Maestri was quoted by Reuters. It’s an interesting statement, as Apple’s company-wide margin currently sits at 38.3%. Apple says that the App Store is the largest component of services revenue, but Apple’s gross cut is 30% of sales and 15% of subscriptions – both before operating costs....

Earlier this month, Apple started pushing back the estimated shipping times for its new line of 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs. Apple CEO Tim Cook previously warned prior to the launch of the new lineup that the company expected significant delays leading into the holidays. While the 21.5-inch iMacs are still listed at “7-10 days” on at least Apple’s United States and Canada online stores, the 27-inch model is now listed as shipping in “January”....

Apple today announced that, despite production concerns and struggles, the iPhone X will be available in retail stores for walk-in customers on Friday, November 3rd. Some had speculated that initial orders would be limited to online only. Apple obviously didn’t address how many units will be available in store, but it’s likely that supply will be incredibly constrained. Apple even says that walk-in customers “are encouraged to arrive early.” Last year, Apple announced ahead of the iPhone 7’s release that all Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models had sold out during pre-orders and that there would be no in-store availability....

Apple today announced that it will be reinstating the Siri audio program later in the year with some new policy changes. Apple apologized for how it previously handled user data. The company says it will no longer retain audio recordings by default. Users will have to opt in if they want Apple to use voice samples, and Apple will aim to delete any recordings that are inadvertent activations. Also, Apple says that only Apple employees will be allowed to listen to Siri recordings from now on....

A source has just dropped a load of unconfirmed information on us for what is being internally referred to as “Apple Store 2.0.” Apple Store 2.0 is a major makeover for the Apple retail store experience. Apple has been working on this new type of Apple store for a while now and the development’s ceiling does not only reach Apple’s Senior VP of Retail Ron Johnson, but was led by Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Apple design chief Jony Ive....

Apple has settled a case with a 21-year-old student after she sent her iPhone to a repair facility in 2016 only to find that employees had uploaded personal explicit images and videos to her Facebook account from the phone during the repair process. The student had sent in her iPhone to Apple to get repaired. The invasion of privacy ultimately took place at a repair center in California, run by Pegatron, an Apple contractor....

In the first high-profile iMessage App Store rejection we’ve seen, the developer of the Phoneys sticker pack says Apple has reached out with bad news: the company will pull the app in a week if it is not significantly changed. Phoneys (currently) features stickers that look like iMessage bubbles, effectively allowing users to replace messages from their friends with some funny alternative text. The app hit #1 Top Paid in the iMessage App Store....

Apple has released the first watchOS 3.2.3 beta for Apple Watch. The update is currently only available to registered developers for testing. watchOS 3.2.3 follows ones day after the release of watchOS 3.2.2 for all users which was previously only available in beta. Both updates focus on bug fixes and performance improvements. watchOS 3.2.3 is only available to registered developers.
